Is your Sebastian street getting repaved? The 2026-27 paving list, street by street
On Oct. 14 the Sebastian City Council signed off on this year's road work. Here is the list of streets getting a fresh layer of asphalt, the ones getting a protective seal, and where the money comes from.

If the road in front of your house has more patches than a quilt, you may be wondering when it gets fixed. For a few dozen Sebastian streets, the answer is this budget year.
At its Oct. 14 meeting, the Sebastian City Council approved two purchase orders for street work with Asphalt Paving Systems, Inc. Here is what is on the list and what it means for you.
How Sebastian decides which roads get fixed
Sebastian picks streets with a scoring system. The city hired an engineering firm, Pavement Management Group, to inspect and score every city road. The firm only does inspections, not repairs. It scored the roads in 2018, then again in 2022 and 2025.
Each road gets a Pavement Condition Index, or PCI. Think of it as a report card from 0 to 100. The city's stated goal is to keep every road above 50. A summary of the meeting reported the citywide score at 70.4.
Roads in decent shape get cheaper preservation work to make them last longer. Roads that are worn out get a mill and overlay. That means crews grind off the old top layer and lay down new asphalt. On this year's list, that new layer is 1.5 or 2 inches thick, depending on the street.
The contractor was chosen through a city bid for citywide pavement work in 2025. The council awarded that contract on Sept. 24, 2025. This month's votes use that contract for this year's streets.
Streets getting new asphalt (mill and overlay)
These are the streets on the contractor's 2026-27 mill and overlay list in the council packet. Add them up and you get about 31,340 feet of road, which matches the roughly 5.94 miles reported.
- Doctor Avenue: Roseland Road to Mulberry Street, Mulberry Street to Glencove Street, and Wentworth Street to Baker Street.
- Jordan Avenue: Mulberry Street to Glencove Street, and Wentworth Street to Baker Street.
- Foster Avenue: Wentworth Street to Baker Street.
- Smith Street: Vocelle Avenue to Doctor Avenue.
- Landsdowne Drive: Laconia Street to Wave Street.
- Midvale Terrace: Joyhaven Drive to Barber Street, and Spinnaker Lane to Addie Street.
- Miller Drive: Pelican Island Drive to Barber Street.
- Arcadia Drive: from Barber Street to near Tracy Drive.
- Seagrass Avenue: Melrose Lane to Autumn Terrace.
- Bywood Avenue: Seagrass Avenue to Melrose Lane.
- Crown Street: Autumn Terrace to Melrose Lane.
- Celtic Avenue, Kendall Avenue and Candle Avenue: each from Melrose Lane to Crown Street.
- Summer Street: George Street to Bywood Avenue.
- Englar Drive: George Street, over the bridge to the park.
- Jackson Street: a short stretch, about 100 feet, east of US 1.
- Short sections where these side streets meet the paved roads: Clearmont Street, Persian Lane, Seamist Lane, Top Sail Lane, Biscayne Lane, Strait Avenue and Summer Street.
Streets getting a seal coat or spot repairs
The second purchase order is about keeping fair roads from turning into bad ones. The contractor's quote includes a cape seal, a double micro surface, crack sealing and patching, road-edge repairs and a striping allowance. These are surface treatments that seal an older road instead of replacing it.
Streets named on that quote include Ellingsen Avenue, Peterson Street, Stevenson Avenue, Fordham Street, Spire Avenue, Thomas Street, Mark Street, Holden Avenue, Charles Avenue, Becker Avenue and South Easy Street, plus a few more short side streets.
The quote also lists about 15 spot repairs, such as cracked areas and worn road edges. Some of those spots are on Laconia Street, Caravan Terrace, Lance Street, Grandin, Surfside, Bayfront and at the corner of Pelican Island Place and Schumann Drive.
One more fix you might not see: drain pipes
The same night, the council approved up to $250,000 for Shenandoah General Construction to camera-inspect and repair failed culvert pipes as needed. The method is called slip lining. Crews slide a new liner inside an old drain pipe instead of digging it all up. The city says that means less disruption to traffic and shorter road closures.
What to do
- Find your street on the lists above. If it is there, expect work during the city's 2026-27 budget year. No dates were published in the council packet.
- When crews arrive, watch for posted signs and traffic control, and move cars off the street when asked. Fresh asphalt and seal coats need time to set, so keep kids, bikes and pets off until the crew opens the road.
- Not on the list and your road is falling apart? Report it on the city's online Report a Concern map. Include the address, a photo and whether it is a pothole, a crumbling edge or a sinking spot near a drain.
- Want to see the long-range plan? The city's Pavement Assessment and Maintenance Program page has the multi-year maintenance and rehabilitation plans and maps. Your street may be scheduled for a later year.
- Questions in person? Sebastian City Hall is at 1225 Main Street, open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed noon to 1 p.m.
Common questions
- When will my street be repaved in Sebastian?
- If your street is on the 2026-27 mill and overlay list, the work falls in the city's current budget year. The council packet did not publish start dates. For roads not on this year's list, check the multi-year plan on the city's Pavement Assessment and Maintenance Program page.
- How much is Sebastian spending on roads this year?
- On Oct. 14, 2026, the council approved up to $1,797,594.51 for mill and overlay paving and up to $559,217.36 for street preservation, both with Asphalt Paving Systems, Inc. That is about $2.36 million in all.

- Crews grind off the worn top layer of asphalt and put down a new one. On Sebastian's 2026-27 list, the new layer is 1.5 or 2 inches thick depending on the street.
- How do I report a pothole in Sebastian?
- Use the City of Sebastian's online Report a Concern tool, linked from the city's website. Give the address, a photo and a short description of the problem.
